Knauff, Gar-Pal overrun S.J.E. Eagles, 62-12

If Kevin Knauff has not been banned from entering the city limits of St. John and Endicott, residents may have thought about it after the Gar-Pal senior ran for 258 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 62-12 win over the Eagles last Friday.

Playing at home in St. John, the team needed to beat the winless Vikings to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Instead they got hunted themselves, with Knauff returning from injury to lead Gar-Pal (1-2 in league, 1-4 overall) to their first win of the season.

In addition, quarterback Hunter Woltering completed four of eight passes for 143 yards, all to Jesse Lopez.

Gar-Pal led 48-0 at halftime.

“We’re trying to get better every week and put it all together and we were finally able to do that,” said Vikings coach Scott Thompson.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the second half on touchdowns by quarterback Weston Whinery and running back Wade West.

Gar-Pal plays next at home vs. Pomeroy Friday.

“We’re going to have to play well again,” said Thompson.
