L/W girls beat Vikings

The Gar-Pal Vikings volleyball team went to LaCrosse Tuesday night to play a team they beat last week in three games.

This time was different as the Tigercats of LaCrosse-Washtucna took the match in five games, 19-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 15-10.

The loss dropped Gar-Pal to 1-3 in league, 3-5 overall.

Chandler Pfaff led the team with six aces and 21 assists while Foster Marcus Nelson had 13 assists. Cassidy Clarkson had six blocks and six kills while Holly Brown also had six kills.

"We came out tonight and did what we were supposed to do, then the girls went completely flat," said Vikings coach Brad Rader. "They stopped serving, they stopped hitting and they stopped passing."

Last Thursday, Gar-Pal played Tekoa-Oakesdale, the two-time defending state champions, and lost in three, 25-20, 25-12 and 25-18.

"I really don’t see anybody beating them," Rader said.

Gar-Pal will play next at home Tuesday, Oct. 22 vs. Pomeroy and Thursday, Oct. 24, at Rosalia.
