After a 62-12 loss to Gar-Pal last week in a turning point game in the Southeast 1B league, the St. John–Endicott Eagles aimed to re-group at Sunnyside Christian Friday night.
Instead they went down 52-0.
“It didn’t go the way we wanted,” said Eagles coach Steve Selk.
The Knights led 40-0 at halftime.
Wade West led for St. John-Endicott (2-5 overall) with 14 carries for 105 yards. West later took over at quarterback when Weston Whinery went out with an injured shoulder.
This Friday, the Eagles face winless rival LaCrosse-Washtucna in their Homecoming game at St. John. It is also senior night.
“Neither of us has anything to lose at this point,” Selk said.
After that, the Eagles play Colton and then Liberty Christian.
Defending state champions, Liberty Christian was beat by the Wildcats last Friday.
LaCrosse/ Washtucna Friday sustained a 58-6 pounding at the hands of Touchet in last week’s league game.
Highlight for the Tigercats was a 61-yard escape by Bo Rice in the second quarter after the Indians had booked three scores.
Rice scored off a shotgun set which the Tigercats have installed after losing QB Joey Guske to an injury.
Friday’s score came on a direct snap to Rice who found a route around a midfield jam and went all the way.
The ‘cats this week will get Guske back in action.
