WSU will host orchestra festival

Washington State University will host a day-long festival for regional high school and middle school orchestras Nov. 1 with workshops and performances in Kimbrough Hall. The festival will be highlighted by a free public performance by a faculty trio and the WSU symphony orchestra.

Meredith Arksey, violin; Ruth Boden, cello, and Jeff Savage, piano, will perform the allegretto movement from “Piano Trio No. 2” in E minor by Shostakovich at 12:20 p.m. in Bryan Hall. The first movement of “Symphony No. 5” by Beethoven and the final sections of “Billy the Kid” by Aaron Copland will then be presented by the orchestra.
