Scout food drive starts

Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Colfax Saturday distributed Scouting for Food flyers to residents. The scouts will begin the distribution at about 11 a.m.

The door flyers are a new part of the annual Scouting for Food Drive this year and residents are asked to put their food donations in grocery bags.

The scouts will collect the food donation next Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Instructions on the type of foods sought are listed on the door flyer cards. Residents are asked to not donate frozen foods or food in glass containers.

Colfax Troop 595 Scoutmaster Mark Clinton said the annual drive in Colfax normally collects between one and two tons of food. The donations will be taken to the Colfax Food Bank which is now located in the DSHS building in Colfax.
