The SE running duel between the St. John Eagles and the Asotin Panthers continued Saturday amid a horde of runners in the three-district regional qualifier at Planter’s Ferry in the Spokane Valley. Asotin took the team win with 74 points, but the Eagles finished second in the all B race with a 78.
Both teams qualified for the all-B state run this Saturday back an Sun Willows golf course in Pasco.
Madison West of St. George’s won the girls race with 19:54.48, and Jordyn Prubek of the Eagles placed second with a 20:12.07.
Lucy Eggleston, who has been dominating the SE loop for the Panthers, finished fifth a 21:07.9.
Other team qualifiers for the Eagles were Heather Siegel, 7th at 21:16.62; Shania Bailey, 8th at 21:24.54; Jade Porubek, 30th at 23"45.7, Sami Bailey, 39th at 24:55.58, and Annie Bailey, 39th at 27:17.02.
Asotin's Chandler Tiegen topped a 87 runners to win the boys race at 16:19.25 with Hunter Olsen of St. George’s second at 16:53.9.
None of the locals made the state cut by finishing in the top 30.
Kaleb Kolb of the Eagles placed 38th at 19:16.68, and Jacob Blakesley placed 62nd 24:74.14.
Colfax runners finished their season with Tim Cornelius just behind Kolb for 40th at 19:22, Doug Wilson, 80th at 23:49.29, and Thuc Nguyen, 87th at 31:42.
Dillon Jacobs of Tekoa/Oakesdale finished 71st 21:59.59, and Clooper Angelo finished 75th at 23:12.09
