There could be a lot of football for the boys of Gar-Pal in the next week.
After the team beat Sunnyside Christian 50-22 last Friday, the Vikings control their destiny as the playoff picture forms.
Playing at Washtucna Friday on senior night for the L/W Tigercats, a Gar-Pal (3-3 in league, 3-5 overall) win would give them a home play-in game for the District 9 Playoffs next Tuesday, Nov. 12. They would play Rosalia.
The rare mid-week game was created to allow independent Rosalia an opportunity at entering the playoffs.
The winner of that game will move into the playoffs as the No. 4 seed – for a Friday game No.v. 15.
“It could be three games in seven days,” said Gar-Pal coach Scott Thompson. “It’s gonna be a lot of football possibly, hopefully.”
Thompson said his team is healthy and ready for the task against L/W ()-6 in league, 0-8 overall)
Playing at Sunnyside last Friday, Gar-Pal’s Kevin Knauff led the team with 252 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings broke open a 14-14 tie in the second quarter to go on to win. In addition, Tyler Thurman had three touchdowns, one rushing, one receiving and another on an interception return.
