Pullman Police Chief Gary Jenkins last Thursday issued an alert on the potential for burglaries in Pullman with the Thanksgiving break expected to leave many residences unoccupied this week. The alert was posed in the wake of two robbery arrests two weeks ago when the suspects were believed to be part of a burglary ring that hit Pullman after traveling from the Seattle area.
The alert noted the burglary ring works in groups of two to eight. Their standard mode of operation involves knocking on the doors of residences to determine whether or not they are occupied.
Suspects were arrested two weeks ago after they entered a residence that turned out to be occupied.
The police report said the intruders threatened a woman who was in the residence with a gun. The victim had been upstairs in the college hill residence and heard crashing sounds which were apparently made as the suspects made a forced entry into the building. The Pullman chief urged residents to take extra precautions if they plan to be out of town during the Thanksgiving holiday. He asked residents to be on the alert for unusual activity.
