Whitman County Commissioners on Monday morning notified county department heads about cuts in the budget, resulting in the loss of one sheriff’s deputy and possibly more employees throughout county offices.
Commissioners wanted a sustainable budget and county finance directors shaved about seven percent more off the general fund budget to bring it within a projected $13.1 million.
