Hospital remodeling aims at energy efficiency

Whitman Hospital and Medical Center is going through a $6.5 million remodeling project that includes revamping the heating and cooling systems making them more energy efficient.

According to Jim Heilsberg, hospital Chief Financial Officer, the project is remodeling the “guts” of the building.

“We saw a need to refresh the building for functionality,” Heilsberg explained.

The main upgrade will be the electrical, heating and cooling systems. Heilsberg said the systems will be more energy efficient and last longer than the present out-dated systems.
