Snow and cold to stay

Snow, chilly temperatures and cold winds from the northwest greeted Whitman County residents on Tuesday morning.

David Jones, Natural Resources Conservation Service Soil Conservationist based in Colfax, said he measured about an inch of snowfall on Tuesday.

In the Garfield area, less than a quarter of an inch of snow fell, according to a staffer at McGregor’s.

Art Schultheis said he measured about two inches of snow in Colton. He also said windy conditions had improved by Tuesday afternoon.
