Palouse Cares food drive

With a bitter north wind blowing and temperatures hovering barely above zero on Saturday morning, 50 volunteers went door-to-door to collect food for the Palouse Cares Food Drive.

The volunteers collected 1,839 pounds of food.

Through the silent auction and financial donations, including a $500 contribution from Palouse Cares to the Colfax Food Bank, $1,276 was raised. Six crock pots also came from a donation by Palouse Cares and were donated to the food bank.

The Palouse Cares Food Drive was in 15 communities on Saturday and is the biggest single day food drive in the area. It covered communities in Whitman and Latah counties.
