The Best Western Wheatland Inn in Colfax still is cleaning up after a water pipe broke above the entrance last Sunday. According to one of the inn’s employees, a water pipe in the ceiling froze then broke above the entry door. The pipe ran to the breakfast area, with water gushing through the light fixtures. For three hours, inn employees swept the ankle-deep water out of the building. Finally the water was shut off. Guests had their breakfasts in a conference room down the hall from the main entrance. A company is cleaning and drying everything, the employee said. Everything should be back to normal in a little less than a week.
