Formal charges were filed Dec. 23 in superior court against David Mayhan of Palouse. He was arrested Dec. 18 in Palouse after officers received a report that he was threatening Palouse city officials. Officers were first called to the residence after family members reported Mayhan was out of control and had allegedly assaulted his spouse.
He has been charged with harassment with a threat to kill and assault with domestic violence. Bail amount for pre-trail release was set at $250,000.
The court has also issued a protection order for Mrs. Mayhan and their son. Mayhan designated another place of residence in Palouse in the event he is released.
The arrest report said Mayhan at one point had threatened to get “frag grenades” and use them on Palouse City Hall. Mayhan was believed to be upset after his civil suit for $1.5 million against Palouse and Palouse Chief Jerry Neumann was dismissed in superior court. He had sought $1.5 million for the death of their older son in 2010 due to alleged failures by the Palouse Police Department.
