Colton beats 3A Shadle Park

Colton and Tekoa/Oakesdale girls upped the ante for Friday’s league collision at Colton with power wins at the end of the holiday break.

After their non-leaguer with Kamiah Monday night was called off, Colton hooked up for a game with Shadle Park, rolled to Spokane and defeated the 3A team 68-61.

The win over the GSL team bumped Colton’s record to 5-0.

Sophomore Zoe Moser led the attack with 22 points against the Highlanders. Colton put the hosts in a 13-point hole and then fought off a Shadle rally by dropping foul shots in the final minute.

Also scoring for the Wildcats were Jenna Moser 14, Haley Meyer 6, Winnie Schultheis 2, Hannah Kramer 5, Savannah Chadwick 5, and Jackie Warener 14.

Coach Clark Vining noted the Shadle matchup was the first time in his memory that the Wildcats booked a game with a 3A team during the regular season

Saturday, Tekoa/Oakesdale girls rolled to a 6-0 record night when they downed Pomeroy 60-38 at Tekoa in the lone SE league game over the holiday break. The `hawks were led by Jacey Johnson who bombed 29 points on her home court.

After a close first half, the `hawks took control of the game with a 40-23 edge in the second half.

In other holiday action Saturday for SE teams, the SJE Eagles took out Liberty 51-39 to book a split over the weekend. Abby Glorfield hit 15 to lead the Eagles who are now 5-2 overall.

St. John-Endicott faded in the last quarter Friday night against the LRS Broncos who pegged a 38-32 win. The Eagles earlier in the half pegged five-point leads over the visitors, but were hurt by turnovers.

Jenna Bennett led the Broncos with 15 points in the Friday round and Gracie Dickerson topped SJE with 13.

SJE resumes league play Friday with a trip to Liberty Christian.

Rosalia girls Saturday topped Odessa/Harrington 56-30 to finish with a split at the Davenport tournament. The Spartans were again led by Mackenzie Reddish who canned 17 against the Titans.

In the first round Friday, Wilbur/Creston thumped the Spartans 63-39. Reddish hit 15 against the Wildcats.

Now 4-2 overall, Rosalia will travel to Washtucna Friday to resume league play against the Tigercats.

LaCrosse/Washtucna/Kahlotus was hammered by Asotin 58-18 Saturday in the second round of holiday acton at Dayton. Brielle Whittaker hit 24 points for the Panthers who shutout the T-cats in the first quarter.

In the first round at Dayton Friday, Dayton defeated LWK 46-16.

Saturday Dayton defeated Elgin, Ore., 54-33 to top the two tourney rounds.

Jordan Druffel led the Wildcats with 15 points while Dalton Patchen had seven points, eight blocks, 10 assists and 14 rebounds Monday night. Playing at home against the Kubs, Colton’s Druffel marked a career-high while Austin Meyer added 14 points and eight rebounds as the Wildcats increased their record to 2-1 for the season.

For Kamiah, Chris Pethtel led with 15 points in the game.

The Pirates came to Tekoa and built their record to 8-0 in a game which they lead 32-1 at halftime.

Tyson Fieder scored 16 points to lead his team on the night while Bryan McGreevy added seven.

With the loss, the Nighthawks’ record dropped to 0-6 overall, 0-3 in league.

Liberty 76,

Robert Staples lead the Eagles with 13 points in a losing effort at home against Liberty. Adam Blakley added seven points as the Eagles dropped to 0-7 on the season.
