Students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade will present the musical “Tom Sawyer” Thursday, Jan. 16. There will be a matinee at 1 p.m. and an evening performance at 6:30 p.m. The musical is approximately 50 minutes in length.
The musical was written by Mary Donelly and George L.O. Strid. There are 20 main characters, including Tom Sawyer played by Jordanne Webb and Becky Thatcher played by Autumn Meyers. Together they sing a lovely duet entitled “I Choose You And You Choose Me” and “To A Brighter Day.” There are two narrators, Zoe Bailey and Dustin Broeckel. Aunt Polly, Sid and Mary are played by Hally Lindgren, Nick Webb and Logan Stanley.
Tom’s friends are portrayed by Alex Binks, Ty Harder and Austin Jones. The “bad guys” are played by Alynn Harder, Jadyn Guske and Mashayla Miller-Morris. Huckelberry Finn is played by Braden Miller. The teacher, paperboy, sheriff, preacher and Sarah are portrayed respectively by Kaelea Reeves, Abree Aune, Austin Stanley, Katy McKay and Genevieve McGregor. The chorus includes all students in grades kindergarten through third grade.
Many of these students will provide the entertainment for the LaCrosse Farmer’s Club ladies Jan. 15.
The first semester ends on Jan. 16. Beginning on Jan. 17, sixth graders Gunnar Aune, Matea Enzweiler, Trey Fleming, Blake Jones and Lauren Stubbs will rotate into music and the seventh and eighth graders will begin ag class.
