Serving Whitman County since 1877
For the second year the Palouse Area Robotics has had a Colfax Lego League robotics team for students grade 4 through 8. Members of the team 4H Colfax Electro Squids, are Dylan Nails and Connor Johnson, eighth grade; Hayden Fulfs, sixth grade; Kierstyn York and Johnny Szwast, fifth grade. They learn about robot programming and how science can solve today’s world challenges.
Teams from all over the world compete using the Robot game missions and The Project, all using the core values, with gracious professionalism as the most important. This year the theme is “Nature’s Fury,” and the team has been focusing on how to help Whitman County residents prepare for and keep safe during a flood.
After visiting with Bill Tensfeld and Robin Cocking at the Whitman County Emergency Management office and a field trip to the Spokane NOOA office, they began developing a mobile phone app that is interactive and innovative. Eastern Washington competitions will begin Jan. 26.
