Colfax girls will again take a shot at the undefeated record of Northwest Christian Friday when they travel to Colbert for an NE rematch with the Crusader girls.
The Crusaders will host after advancing their undefeated season record to 17-0 and 11-0 in the league last weekend.
Colfax came within a point of stopping the Crusaders in the first league round Jan. 3 at Colfax. The Crusaders left Colfax with a 66-65 win after Rachel Bozlee erased an early Colfax lead with a blitz of four three-point shots.
Unlike the first NE matchup, Friday’s game will not change the league leader. That’s because Colfax now trails the Crusaders with a 9-2 league record after getting tripped by the LRS Broncos two weeks ago. The Broncos’ win over the Bulldogs was also by a point, 44-43.
After Friday’s rematch at Colbert, Colfax will have two league games remaining with a trip to Liberty on Tuesday night and a home closer against LRS in a rematch next Friday.
Friday night at Springdale the Bulldogs booked a 40-17 win over the Chargers in a defensive battle. Colfax staked a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and led 21-6 at the half.
Senior Bailey Mackleit led Colfax with seven points as the Bulldogs played down the roster. Ten of the Bulldogs booked points in the road game.
Colfax out-boarded the Chargers 41-21 and booked 18 steals against the hosts, who were 1-9 in the league at the start of the week.
Saturday on the home boards against Reardan, Colfax put a 40-point crunch on the guests, 59-19, with a 21-point blast in first quarter. They led 34-15 at the break.
Nicole Sheer hit 18 points for Colfax and Scout Cai, who had three 3-point shots for the night, totaled 12 points.
Reardan, which was 1-10 in league play after the weekend, was called for 14 fouls on the night, eight more than Colfax.
Kamille Langford led the Indians’ offense with six points.
Tuesday night the Bulldogs bumped their overall record go 13-4 with a runaway 43-11 win over Waitsburg on the Cardinals’ court. The Bulldogs held the SE team to nine points over the first and scoreless in the third quarter. Nicole Sheer led Colfax with 10.
