Evan Lord (left) of Colfax took out Earl Oppelt of Waitsburg/Prescott in the first round of the 195 class. Kevin Knauff of Garfield/Palouse put the top side pressure on Tyler Brooks of Waitsburg/Prescott. Knauff also booked three wins in the Colfax meet.
Colfax hosted five teams on two mats Thursday for a league competition.
Guests for the event were Reardan, Wilbur-Creston-Keller, Liberty, Davenport and Waitsburg/Prescott.
The event totaled 65 matches over three rounds of competition. Overall, the Colfax combo of the Bulldogs, Garfield/Palouse and Tekoa/Oakesdale rolled out a 21-14 record with the Colfax wrestlers booking a 15-9 mark.
Each of the three seniors honored at the home meet rolled out 3-0 records over the three rounds. They are Ray Compton at 195 and Evan Lord at 220 for Colfax and Kevin Knauff at 160 for Garfield/Palouse.
Colfax will wrestle in Palouse today, Thursday. The match in Palouse will be the first high school wrestling match for Palouse.
The other Colfax home wrestling event for the season will be the district meet, also known as the sub-regional, Feb. 8. The top six qualifiers out of sub-regionals will advance to the regional qualification round at Kittatas Feb. 14-15.
The combo team will depart Saturday for a league meet at Almira/Coulee/Hartline.
