A $2,000 Northwest Farm Credit Services/CoBank rural community grant has been awarded to Palouse Habitat for Humanity to purchase cabinets and countertops for a new Habitat for Humanity home building project in Albion.
Of the 12 homes Palouse HFH has already completed, more than half have been in rual Palouse communities, including Colfax, Genesee, Palouse and Uniontown. Those homes brought new children into school districts and new tax-paying home-owners to the community base.
Northwest FCS is committed to helping rural communities succeed. This year Northwest FCS, with support from CoBank, has awarded 71 rural grants totaling more than $127,000. Since 2007, Northwest FCS has presented more than 270 rural grants totaling more than $563,594.
The next rural grant deadline is Oct. 1.
