RTOP will open

new art corner

Regional Theatre of the Palouse will celebrate the opening of the RTOP Corner Art Gallery and Thrift Boutique with a reception Saturday, Feb. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Located at 134 N. Grand Ave. in Pullman, the center will celebrate the work of area artists.

Artists Randy Emerson, Armando Pacheco and Sarah Hamilton will meet with the public during a reception at the grand opening. Oils, photography and acrylics will be featured and all pieces will be available to purchase.

“I’m really excited we are expanding our art reach into fine arts and promoting artists on all levels throughout the Palouse,” said RTOP’s Artistic Director John Rich.

Rich said donations to the Thrift Boutique are just another way to fund these artistic endeavors.

The RTOP Theater is at 122 N. Grand. Currently, the theater is opening its second weekend of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park.”

McCoy soup social

McCoy Museum soup social will be Sunday, Feb. 16 at Oakesdale. Soup, bread and dessert will be served. Admission will be by donation.

Mayor will report

at CC luncheon

Mayor Todd Vanek will give a state of the city report at the next Colfax Chamber of Commerce luncheon Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Best Western Inn at noon. Lunch will be catered by Fonk’s Coffee House. Call the chamber office by Friday to make a reservation.

Sausage feed

set at Uniontown

The 61st annual Uniontown Sausage Feed will be Sunday, March 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free concert by the German Oom Pah Band at the Dahmen Barn will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., and the 4 Names in a Hat barbershop quartet will serenade those waiting to eat at the Community Building.

Net proceeds from the event maintain Uniontown’s Community Building.

The Sausage Feed menu is award winning homemade sausage, mashed potatoes, sauerkraut, applesauce, roll, pie and beverage, including a beer garden. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for ages 6 to 12, and $2 for children under 6. This is an all-you-can-eat meal where the first to come are the first served in the dining room.

Take out meals may be picked up with no wait.

Chapter AF members met Feb. 10 at Peace Lutheran Church with Joann Wood hosting. Thirteen members responded to roll call by indicating their preference of Valentine’s Day gifts.

Lynn Nelson of the by-laws committee reviewed by-laws and standing rules of the local chapter. Some corrections and suggestions were made and will be voted on by the chapter.

The next scheduled meeting will be Feb. 24 with Arlene Hatley hosting. Robyn Johnson will present her president’s letter.

Pullman LWV

Pullman League of Women Voters will host a brown bag discussion with Dr. Peter Tozer, WSU School of Economic Sciences, regarding the history and overview of the Farm Bill. The information presented will help League members answer some of the questions for the LWVUS Agricultural Update Consensus. The meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 20, from noon to 1 p.m., at the Congregational Church at 525 Campus Avenue. There is free parking in the lot next to the church at the corner of Campus and Opel Streets. The public is invited to attend.
