Student artists report on inspiration, skills

High school art students from around the county gave a presentation of their work last Thursday at a Meet the Artists session hosted by the Colfax Arts Council and the Whitman County Library. The students talked about their techniques and inspirations in creating art. Each showed several works which were part of the display. Clockwise from the lower left are Ryland Deane of Tekoa, Sierra Skaggs of Oakesdale, Hannah Herrington of St. John/Endicott, Autumn Deane of Rosalia, Katie Yoder of Garfield/Palouse, Gabby Isreal of Oakesdale and Anna Ashcraft of Colfax. Art instructors from the schools assisted in the presentation.

The Meet the Artist program was part of a two-week exhibit of student art at the Whitman County Library in Colfax. Art projects from all over the county were placed on display at the start of February, and the student artists were honored with a reception at the library Feb. 3. The exhibit will continue to the end of this week.

This is the second year for the student art show at the library.
