WSU visitor center displays glass art

Glass works by Dale Chihuly, Lino Taglipietra and other Northwest and international artists are on exhibit at the Brelsford WSU Visitor Center, 150 E. Spring St., downtown Pullman. It can be viewed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

The display is from the collection at the WSU Museum of Art and will be at the center for several months. Some of the works are from the Marian E. Smith collection of Northwest glass art given to the museum. Other pieces are gifts from Safeco Insurance, a member of the Liberty Mutual Group and from the Washington Art Consortium.

The Pacific Northwest is home to one of the nation’s largest concentrations of glass artists. Many studied and taught at Seattle’s Pilchuck Glass School. Other artists represented in the visitor center display include Sonja Blomdahl, Dante Marioni, Bertil Vallien and Toots Zynsky.
