For almost two quarters last Saturday it seemed possible that the world of 1B girls state basketball could turn upside town.
Colton and Tekoa/Oakesdale, the one-two entry from the SE, paired off in the last of four B championship battles in the Spokane Arena, but unlike their three prior collisions the Nighthawks were keeping pace with the undefeated Wildcats.
The two finalists had reached the championship game by contrasting approaches. Colton had advanced with two crushing wins, a 89-27 win over Tulalip Heritage on the first night and a 60-22 in over Pateros in the semifinal round
