County commissioners again pass on marijuana application

Whitman County commissioners Monday reviewed the seventh marijuana application the commissioners have received.

This application sent from the state Liquor Control Board is for Patrick Brennan of Sunshine Farming on Rock Lake Road near St. John. The application is for marijuana producing and processing.

As with the previous six applications, the commissioners took no action.

When people apply for a license to produce, process or sell marijuana, the application goes through the state Liquor Control Board which notifies the local government authority.

Once all the paperwork is in, the application is processed by the state board.

The state has no limit on the number of marijuana producers or processors, but the limit of the number of retailers is 334 statewide, with Whitman County allocated to four stores, three in Pullman and one at large.

The other applications are for producing and processing sites in Endicott, Thornton and Pullman.

On the following two liquor license applications, one for Whiskey Barrel Cider Company in Pullman and one for Colfax Chamber of Commerce, the commissioners chose to “respond without objection.”
