Serving Whitman County since 1877
Whitman Conser-vation District appointed new officers at its March 13 meeting.
They are David Lange, chairman; Cory Aeschliman, vice chairman; Jan Turney, auditor; Rhod McIntosh, secretary; and Walter Riley, board member.
Riley was acknowledged by the other board members for being chairman for the last three years.
During the meeting, the board read an acceptance letter for a water quality program submitted by Dennis and Jan Moore of Hay. WCD Natural Resource Coordinator Nancy Hoobler said she is working with additional conservation district members on individual water quality programs.
The board also is continuing to search for office space. Their current office at the Soil Conservation Service building in Colfax requires $25,000 annually for rent. WCD has not paid rent for its office space. They must be moved by mid-summer. Board members discussed three locations they are considering in Colfax.
