Serving Whitman County since 1877
The Whitman County Library has a new grant for digital literacy.
Kicking off at the St. John Library April 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of a community-wide Girls’ Night Out event, the program of two classes will then go around the county from April 11-18.
Erica Willson, grant coordinator for the library, will lead both workshop classes, Internet Help 101 and Digital Photo Help.
“We’re targeting the adult market that would like to learn how to increase their computer skills,” said Willson.
The photo workshop will teach about simple photo editing programs.
“How to make your photos basically brag-worthy,” said Willson.
The grant comes from the Washington State Library.
“I think we’re trying to offer unique programs that people want to use in everyday life,” she said.
Internet Help 101 classes will run at four locations: Malden Library, April 11 at 11 a.m .; LaCrosse Library, April 14 at 4:30 p.m .; Endicott Library, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. and Palouse Library, April 18 at 1 p.m.
The Digital Photo Help class will be offered at six locations: Rosalia Library, April 15 at 1:30 p.m .; Tekoa Library, April 14 at 4 p.m .; LaCrosse Library, April 16 at 3:30 p.m .; St. John Library, April 16 at 6 p.m .; Albion Library, April 17 at 6 p.m. and Uniontown Library, April 18 at 9:30 a.m.
Willson also taught a series focused on internet work skills in 2012 for Whitman County Library.
