Greater Tuna

set for Empire

The Sixth Street Melodrama theatrical company from Wallace, Idaho, will present the comedy “Greater Tuna” on stage Saturday, April 5, at the Empire Theatre. “Greater Tuna” is a light-hearted foray into the third smallest town in Texas, Tuna, and its crazy citizens, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies.

The action in this “tall Texas tale” begins with two disc jockeys at local radio station OKKK as it goes on the air in the morning. They deliver not only news and farm reports, but by the time they sign-off at the end of the day, you will meet 21 of Tuna’s eccentric citizens, all played by only two actors, who portray men, women and children with fast costume changes. The characters include UFOlogist R.R. Snavely, Vera Carp and perhaps even an animal, as well as a character or two that you might encounter in, well, Tekoa or Colfax. The play has a rating of PG-13 (language).

Curtain time is 7 p.m. Admission will be $15 for general seating.

Quilt show set

at Moscow

“Cut to the Chase” Quilt Show at Latah County Fairgrounds in Moscow will be Saturday, April 12, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $5 general and $3 for seniors and youth.

Over 200 hand-made quilts from the Palouse area will be displayed. Many vendors will also participate.

She was introduced to and influenced by antique designs at an early age by her parents, and she currently owns Open Eye Antiques, a thriving business in Palouse.

Opening reception with artist will be April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibit will be from April 12 to May 10.

Watercoler exhibit

A watercolor exhibit by Rob Smith will be featured in the foyer of the Colfax Library during April. Smith loves to tell stories through his work and recently self-published his own children’s e-book “Undead Ted.”
