Cleanup week set for Colfax

Colfax Community Cleanup Week is from Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 19.

The City of Colfax is joining the Colfax Downtown Association, Colfax Chamber of Commerce, Whitman County Library, Colfax Arts Council, Colfax Rotary Club and the Colfax School District as the organizations participate in the Third Annual Community Cleanup.

Members of the community are encouraged to pick up litter, sweep sidewalks and curbs, trim trees, rake leaves, paint and do whatever needs to be done to make the city sparkle.

Residents may contact any of these groups to join in the activities.

JES students plan cleanup activities

Jennings Elementary students will participate in Colfax Cleanup week Tuesday, April 15, from 2 to 3 p.m. Assignments will be by classes:

—1st grade: Playground grassy area

—2nd grade: Football field area (maybe need a couple of parents to help- large area)

—3rd grade: Playground blacktop north to portables area

—4th grade: Front of JES

—5th grade: North playground area (from portables over to swimming pool and skate park)

—6th grade: Schmuck Park area
