Science Olympiad team competes at state tournament

On April 12, 2014, 19 Colton students placed 13th at a science Olympiad.

Colton students traveled to Eastern Washington University in Cheney to compete in the 2014 State Science Olympiad Tourna-ment. The team consisted of 15 seventh through ninth graders with four alternates. They placed 13th in a field of 20 teams. The average size enrollment of the schools which they competed against this year was approximately 700.

Top 10 finishers for Colton were as follows: Ellen O’Toole and Rachel Willis, first in “Can’t Judge a Powder” and second in “Write it, Do It”; Georgia Meyer and Haley Neighbors, seventh in “Crime Busters” and ninth in “Rotor Egg Drop”; Alex Kelly and Cameron Bean, eighth in “Disease Detectives”; Ali Hennigar, Erin Ankerson and Jordyn Moehrle, seventh in “Experimental Design”; Hennigar and Emily Schultheis, fifth in Simple Machines.
