Schuster tops NWC finalists

Whitworth freshman Michal Schuster maintained her hold on the top spot through the final round of the 2014 Northwest Conference Championship tournament, earning medalist honors and leading the Whitworth women’s golf team to a third place finish at OGA golf course on Sunday in Woodburn, Ore.

Schuster, who graduated from St. John/Endicott last year, shot 79 on the final 18 holes of the 5,821 yard course for a total score of 152, six over par.

Her freshman campaign earned first team All-Northwest Conference recognition. Schuster held off George Fox’s Sydney Maluenda, the 2014 NWC Women’s Golfer of the Year, by two strokes to claim the top spot of the 43 conference golfers.
