completes
Sergeants Major course
Patrick McDonald will graduate June 6 from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. McDonald, who was raised in Colfax, has been in El Paso for the past nine months going through the training.
He plans to return to his position as a special assistant to Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman. He is also completing his work for a doctorate degree in public policy with study on the impact of vote-by-mail in Washington and Oregon.

Garfield-Palouse High School drama performance of The Ransom of Miss Elverna Dower will be presented Thursday and Friday, May 8-9, at 7 p.m. on the Garfield School cafeteria stage. Tickets will be $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and children/students 18 and under. The story is based on The Ransom of Red Chief by O. Henry.
Addiction
program
Dr. Kevin McCauley will speak at the Liberty Theater in Dayton tonight, May 8, at 6:45 p.m. on the neuroscience of addiction. Dr. McCauley will cover what is currently known in neuroscience about addiction.
Dr. McCauley lives in Utah where he is the co-director of a 10-bed recovery management program and a graduate student at the University of Utah School of Public Health.
Dahmen class
on wood turnings
Len Zeoli, who has been working with wood since he first made his own toys as a child, will conduct a class in his Uniontown studio that is sponsored by Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown. This is a one-day session where the beginning student will learn the basics of bowl turning and turn a green wood bowl. The cost is $95 which includes use of a power lathe and all materials.
