Rosalia senior Mattie Jo Johnson and her sister, Jacey Johnson, placed fourth in team roping at the Washington State High School Rodeo Association finals last weekend in Kennewick.
The top four point getters for the season in each event qualified for the National High School Rodeo Association Finals in Rock Springs, Wyo., in July.
Mattie Jo finished fourth in breakaway roping and first in goat tying for the season.
The girls are following in the footsteps of their older sister, Shaina Johnson, who will compete for Eastern Washington University in the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., this June.
Jacey is the team “header,” and Mattie Jo is the “heeler” in the photo above.
