St. John
Army promotes
U.S. Army Maj. Jon T. St. John was promoted May 1 to Lt. Colonel at a ceremony May 8 at Ft. Bliss, Texas. Lt. Col. St. John serves with the Army’s Program Executive Office Combat Support and Combat Service Support based at Warren, Mich. He is the son of Tim and Vicki St. John, Tekoa. Present at the ceremony were St. John’s parents and also his aunt and uncle, Robert and Lucy Horner, from Houston. His wife Michelle, and five of his six children were present at the base in Warren, Mich., and viewed the ceremony via video conference. St. John left May 11 for a tour in Afghanistan.
Stinson to lead
Dahmen shop
Dahmen Barn will host a painting workshop by Henry Stinson July 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a workshop for all levels of expertise, ages 14 and up. This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the Russian impressionist technique through demonstrations, lectures and working directly from life with Stinson.
Stinson has taught drawing and painting for 25 years in numerous colleges and privately owned schools and is currently teaching national workshops. He maintains an active painting studio in Pullman.

Knights present scholarship
Jenna Metzer, daughter of Eldon and Dorena Metzer of Colfax, was awarded a $1000 scholarship from the Colfax Knights of Columbus Sunday, May 25, by Dick Appel. Jenna graduates from Pullman High School at the end of this school year and will attend Gonzaga University this fall.

Bodah, Abigail Christine Victoria Thaines, born May 18 at eight pounds, nine ounces, to Elaine and Brian Bodah, Colfax. Paternal grandparents are Keith and Jane Bodah, Syracuse, N.Y. Maternal grandparents are Manoel and Jaira Thaines, Passo Fundo, Brazil. The baby joins sister Anna.
Ermel, Isabella Rose, born May 21 at six pounds, nine ounces, and Zophia Aliese, born May 21 at seven pounds, one ounce, to Amber Rose Ermel and O’Ryan P. Ray, Pullman. Paternal grandparents are Teresa Ball and Troy Ray; Clyde and Dean Ermel. Maternal grandparents are Deann Bornhill and Kirby Bornhill. The babies join brother Gavin Lee Decremer.
