Jenna Marie Moser, daughter of Dan and Nora Moser, has been named valedictorian of the 2014 class of Colton High School with a 4.0 grade average Moser served as president of the student body and honor society and as class president.
She was a member of FFA and the Honor Flight committee which raised more than $1,500 to send a local veteran to Washington, D.C. Moser lettered all four years in volleyball, basketball and softball.
She was named the Associated Press 1B Basketball Player of the Year twice, Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA) Female Athlete of the Year and was a five-time sportsmanship award winner.
She helped her teams earn seven state championships.
She will be attending the University of Washington in the honors program where she plans to pursue a degree in architecture.
Jakob Brennan Straughan, son of Gene and Jenni Straughan, has been named the salutatorian with a 3.97 grade point average.
Straughan lettered in football, basketball and baseball all four years.
In his senior year he was selected by the Washington Associated Press and Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association as an All State point guard and player of the year.
He was also named a McDonald’s All American nominee and Seattle Times Top 25 Washington State Basketball recruit.
Jake was selected as an all-league and all-state quaterback and defensive back.
He was recently selected as a baseball all-league pitcher-infielder and the league MVP of 2014.
Jake earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Idaho where he plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in history, psychology and coaching.
