Trial date set in suit against assessor

A July 14 trial date has been scheduled in the U.S. District Court for the civil suit filed by Brenda Arthur, a member of the staff of the county assessor’s office, against Whitman County Assessor Joe Reynolds and Whitman County. The trial date was set after Judge Lonny Suko denied a summary judgement motion filed by the county’s attorney to dismiss the case.

In his 21-page ruling, filed after a hearing on the motion last week, Judge Suko disqualified parts of the Arthur suit but ruled there were genuine issues which should be brought before a jury at trial.
