Posse Junior Legion will host four league games over two days at McDonald Park in Colfax with the North Central team here Friday for games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the Gonzaga Prep team here Saturday for games at 1 and 3.
The Posse posted a 4-1 record in Junior Legion play before taking on older teams in the first edition of the Palouse Summer Series late last week. The series featured northwest select teams with players in the 19-under age bracket.
Posse booked one win in the series run and had a couple of competitive games against the older players.
The win was booked Saturday over the Seattle Titan with Ryan Vannucci of Pullman allowing seven hits in going the distance on the mound. He fanned seven Titans in taking the win.
Seattle jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Posse scored all six of their runs in the sixth inning with key hits by Griffin Bashaw and Vannucci.
Garrett Burke had three of the eight Posse hits with Jeff Davies, Jake Mendiola and Brent Becker tagging the other raps.
In the other Saturday round, the Moses Lake Spuds scored three runs in the third inning on the way to a 4-1 win over the Posse. Vannucci had the lone RBI for the locals, and Dylan Heiser and Mendiola had the two Posse hits.
Saturday’s split followed a 0-11 loss to a Capital City select team from Salem, Ore.
Thursday, Posse started the series with a day trip to Harris Field in Lewiston where they played a competitive game with the Yakima Beetles. The Posse had a 3-1 lead until the bottom of the fourth inning when Yakima scored four runs.
Mendiola topped a five-hit Posse offense with a double. Other hitters were Burke, Vannucci, Bashaw and Austin Meyer.
The Posse then commuted back to McDonald Park where they played the Dodgers, a select team which plays their home games at Central Valley, in a twilighter McDonald.
The Dodgers rattled off 14 hits while the wind whipped dust off the infield. They departed with a 13-6 win. Burke, Trevor Joirman, Josh Hawn and Becker had the hits for Posse. Trevor Bashaw started on the mound for Posse.
