Serving Whitman County since 1877
The seventh annual Peter Zornes Memorial Golf Tournament will be Saturday, June 28, at the Colfax Golf and Country Club. The tournament is the largest fundraising event for the Peter A. Zornes Memorial Neuroscience Scholarship. All proceeds go directly into the scholarship’s fund housed within WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
Peter Zornes was an Oakesdale native whose life was cut short in 2005. In response to his passing, his family created the scholarship and the tournament as a means of honoring and remembering him and the work he considered so very important.
The tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. During play, participants may compete in various contests. Competitions this year include a longest drive contest, putting and chipping accuracy contests and a $100,000 shootout.
The winner of the Mazatlan, Mexico, seven-day trip will be announced during a short awards and recognition program following play. Dinner will begin at 2 p.m.
Golfers can register as singles, pairs or foursomes for $90 per person. Tickets for the dinner alone are $20 per person.
