Class of 2014 Rosalia High School graduate Cory Brown will be honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Saturday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at the Rosalia Park. Brown is a member of Rosalia Boy Scout Troop 588, chartered by the Rosalia Methodist Church.
To earn the rank of Eagle Scout , a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project.
For his project, Brown organized and completed restoration of the rock fireplace located in the Rosalia Park. The fireplace was built in 1932 by members of the Rosalia Study Club and had deteriorated to the point that demolition was considered.
Brown, the son of Pat and Tami Brown, has enlisted with the Army National Guard to begin this fall. After completing boot camp and training, he plans on enrolling in college in fall 2015.
