Mattie Jo 11th in nation

Competing at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Rock Springs, Wyo., July 13-19, Rosalia’s Mattie Jo Johnson finished 11th in breakaway roping. She roped all three calves in the final round in a total of 10.53 seconds. Each participant competed in two sessions in the event or events in which he/she qualified for the National Finals. The top 20 after the two sessions in an event qualify for the championship short-go on Saturday night, July 19. Mattie’s Jo’s sister Shaina competed at the College National Finals Rodeo in June.
