Rosalia troop, community honor Eagle scout

Rosalia

Achievement of the Eagle Scout badge by Cory James Brown was celebrated by members of Rosalia Troop 588, residents and scouting officials July 12. The son of Pat and Tami Brown, Cory restored the Study Club fireplace in the Rosalia Park. It was originally constructed in 1932.

Brad Hodges served as emcee and started by thanking guests for attending. The Rev. Stewart Nereim gave the invocation, and Rosalia Mayor Nan Konishi spoke about how the town has mentored Cory.

A representative for the Rosalia Parks and Recreation board thanked Cory for his hard work.

Casey Brown, Cory’s brother who has also earned the Eagle award, led other Eagle scouts in the Eagles’ oath.

Hodges gave a brief history of scouting and urged Brown to “march on and be a hard working citizen.”

A reception followed.
