Amara Huber of Colfax, Savannah Chadwick of Colton and Rose Jao of Pullman will be among 15 entrants in the Washington Distinguished Young Women competition Aug. 2 in Pullman. The entrants arrived in Pullman Tuesday to begin practices for the Saturday event which will be at WSU’s Beasley Coliseum. During the week, the teens will stay with Pullman families.
Among judges for the program will be Linda Felber who won the 1964 America’s Junior Miss title after topping the state show from Colfax.
Shirley Sears of Pullman is choreographer.
This will be the 57th edition of the state competition which was formerly known as Washington’s Junior Miss. The Aug. 2 program will start at 7 p.m. Washington’s new program winner will receive a $4,000 scholarship while the first runner-up will earn a $1,200 scholarship. The second runner-up will receive an $800 college scholarship.
Co-chairs of the 2014-15 program are Danielle Kallaher and Tricia Benton of Pullman. Board members include Carissa Little, Patty Greenberg, Mitch Chandler, Lynda Hamilton, Michelle Kincaid, Stephanie Horn and Mary Jo Chandler, all of Pullman; Margo Balzarini and Marilyn Miller, of Colfax.
