Sagers receive awards at Flying Farmers confab

Dusty

Art and Colene Sager spent a week in Loveland, Colo., at an International Flying Farmers Convention. A highlight of this trip was a bus tour to Glenwood Springs, Colo., for an overnight at a hot springs resort. The following day, the group rode Amtrak train back to Denver and a tour bus on return to Loveland. Both the bus and train ride had lovely scenery as it went through the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. The Colorado River and sheer rock cliffs kept the passengers looking out the windows during both rides.

Art received an honorary award of Man of the Year by the International Flying Farmers organization. The award is based on family, community and organizational involvement. Colene received a scholarship of $1,200 to be used for her flying lessons.

Judy Battin, Napavine, and her son Rick, Seattle, visited Judy’s sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Warren Horton, for six days. Jon and Li Ochs and family hosted a razor clam feast, prepared by Judy, at their home Friday. Rick also attended a Bee Conference at WSU during their visit.

Denise Kendall returned to her home in Tacoma Saturday and Doreen Riedner returned to her job at the A.S.C. office in Colfax Monday after helping their brother Brian Broeckel with harvest operations.

Kim and Cindy Pitts picked up their grandsons, Tate and Rafe Carlson, in Spokane last Thursday to spend some time on their grandparent’s farm. Sunday, the boys’ parents, Amanda and Erik Carlson, came to take them home. The Pitts’ daughter Carrie of Yakima, spent from Friday to Tuesday with her parents.

Linda Hennigar attended a bridal shower Sunday for Toni Hennigar in St. John at the home of the bride’s parents, Tom and Georgia Hennigar. More than 40 guests enjoyed an outdoor luncheon. Toni and Brandon Jorgensen will marry Oct. 4, 2014.
