Fall festival set at Dahmen

The apple pie baking contest at Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will be Sunday, Sept. 14. Entries may be apple or apple combination, but no cream or custard pies are allowed. Bakers may enter a pie in each of the categories. Please bring pies to the Dahmen Barn before 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, or between 8 and 10 a.m. on that Sunday morning.

Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. Chef Al from the New Sage Bakery in Uniontown will judge and award first and second places. Prizes are gift baskets with gift certificates, Shepherd’s Grain flour, apples and other items.

The pie baking contest is part of the eighth annual fall festival at the Dahmen Barn which is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 14. The event is free to the public and features antique farm equipment in action, demonstrations of time honored crafts, country antiques, an old car show and swap meet of parts, live music, activities for kids including face painting, pizza made on site and a beer garden.
