Oakesdale, Pirates lead volleyball campaign

Pomeroy pulled out a five-game win over Oakesdale Tuesday in the SE volleyball campaign to land in a tie with the Nighthawks for the league lead. Both teams are now 6-1 in the campaign with one match left for the first round of league action.

Pomeroy topped the Nights hawks with a 15-6 win in the fifth game after the two team split over the first four games, 22-25 25-13 23-25 25-22.

Ally Bott had booked 17 kills for the Pirates and Savannah Ruark had 12 kills.

Jacey Johnson had 14 kills for the Nighthawks and Madison Shrope had 13 assists.

Oakesdale’s team, which consists of just eight girls, went to Pomeroy with a 6-0 record after defeating the SJE Eagles Thursday in a four-gamer at St. John.

Both teams went into that match with 5-0 records. Line score for the win was 25-15 25-21 17-25 and 25-12.

Johnson had 17 kills, and Madison Shrope had 18 assists in the showdown match, and Lindsey Lindgren had digs. Rachel Gfeller led the Eagles with 13 kills.

The Eagles went into the showdown match Thursday after topping Pomeroy in a five game win two days earlier.

In other action Tuesday, Colton posted a five-game win over Touchet in a battle at Colton with Zoe Moser rapping 18 kills and Winnie Schultheis putting up 18 assists. Haley Meyer had t 13 digs.

Colton took the win after dropping the opening game to Indians 10-25. They came back to win the next two games, but Touchet took the fourth round to send it into a decider round.

Garfield/Palouse defeated SJE at Palouse Tuesday in a match which also went to five games. Line score for the Vikkngs’ home win was 25-22 16-25 25-23 25-15 and 15-3 in the decider. Cassidy Clarkson had 10 kills for the Vikings, and Katie Holbrook put ukp 26 assists.

The LWK Tigercats rolled to Richland Tuesday and defeated Liberty Christian in three straight, 25-14 25-10 and 25-4

Gail Harder had four kills and Nicole Harder had 15 aces and eight assists.

Colton Thursday dominated Liberty Christian in three straight games. They dopped the Patriots 25-11 25-12 and 25-12.

Winnie Schultheis hit 12 aces in the match and put up 10 assists. Zoe Moser had seven kills and 10 digs.

Pomeroy moved to 5-1 with a three-game win over the LWK Tigercats at Kahloltus, 25-15-25-10 and 25-14. Savannah Ruark had 10 kills and Skylar Smith and Allie

Bott each had seven kills against the Tigercats.

Gail Harder had six kills against the Pirates.

The Tigercats will play the St. John-Endicott Eagles at St. John in tonight’s league round.
