Serving Whitman County since 1877
Candace Hodges Fisher of Steptoe, now financial coordinator for Whitman County District Court, has been named to the Colfax City treasurer’s job. In addition to coordinating funds for the justice court, Fisher has had prior experience as the clerk and treasurer to the Town of Farmington, Colfax City Administrator Michael Rizzitiello told city council members Monday night.
An Oakesdale High School graduate, Fisher earned degrees in business education and accounting from Eastern Washington University. She has been employed with the county for the past eight years, two in the Public Works Deptarment and six with the court. She was also a teacher with the Worley/Plummer School district.
She plans to join the city staff Oct. 20 to undergo training.
Fisher will take the position which is being vacated by Mark Clinton, who is the lone candidate on the Nov. 4 general ballot for the county treasurer position. Clinton told the city council Monday night he plans to submit his formal resignation after the election.
City council members approved an $8,500 funding proposal to cover the transition period for the change of treasurer when Fisher undergoes training by Clinton and other city staffers.
Rizzitiello said the city has funds to cover the $8,500 addition to expenses because reserves were built up during the months when the city did not have a city administrator on the payroll this year.
