The two power runners on the local scene took overall wins in the big Pasco Invitational cross country run Saturday. Race officials split the big school and small school team scores, but Asotin’s Chandler Tiegen topped the whole field with a 16:00. Tracy Melville, a member of the LRS Bronco team from Sprague, led all the girls with a 18:59.
In the team scoring for small schools, Northwest Christian won with 27 points; Asotin was second with 42 and Tri Cities Prep was third with 70.
Kaleb Kolb again led the SJE boys with 21:26 for 41st place among an entry of 53 runners in the race for A and B schools. Tanner Dingman finished 47th with 22:22 and Parker Perry 49th at 22:48.
The Eagles were booked to race in a SE League race Wednesday at Pomeroy and then compete in the NWC Invitational Saturday at Audubon Park in Spokane.
Melville, Wallat
win at Colbert
Tracy Melville of LRS and Alex Wallat of Northwest Christian topped the NE League cross country race Tuesday on the hilly terrain of NWC’s Colbert course. Melville led the girls with a time of 20:49 on the tough course and Wallat led the boys with an 18:57.
Times for the Colfax boys were Tim Cornelius, 23:13, Chase Baerlocher 23:18, Jaydon Soncarty 24:46 and Doug Wilson 28:29.
Alicia Knee clocked 30:40 for the Colfax girls. Colfax junior high times for one lap over the course were booked by Jamie Kellogg at 22:06 and Levi Kellogg at 15:25.
Timberwolves
third and NWC
Tekoa/Oakesdale boys placed third at the NWC run with 82 points behind the 15-point win by Northwest Christian. Reardan was second with 48.
Dillon Jacobs placed 19th for TR with 24:99, and Gavin Merritt was 22nd with a 25:20.
Other finishers hers to TR were Chase Neill, 25th at 26:17; Chris Francis, 32nd at 32:46; Eric Hanson, 33rd at 34:23; and Cody Anderson, 33rd at 40:47.
Jamie Wilson placed 9th in the girls race at 27:55. Melissa Groom was 19th at 33:01, and Daphne Jacobs, 21st at 34:46.
