Pomeroy takes lead in county volleyball race

Pomeroy stayed ahead of the SE 1B volleyball pack Tuesday with a three-game win over the Liberty Christian Patriots at Richland. The win put the Pirates at 7-1 in the league race with six more rounds to go before the district playoffs.

Pomeroy downed the Pats 25-13 25=9 and 25-18.

Skylar Smith hit five aces and Ally Bott had eight kills in the Pirates win over the Patriots. Ireland Mayfield had 18 assists.

Pomeroy swept Colton in the Thursday round 25-11 25-19 and 25-18 with Cheyenne Miller rapping nine kills, and Savannah Ruark hitting eight kills.

Zoe ‘Moser hit 10 kills against the Pirates and Winnie Schultheis had 13 digs.

St. John Endicott, the lone league team to top Pomeroy, remained in the hunt in the Tuesday round with a three game road win at Touchet, 25-13 25-12 and 25-1`6. The win advanced the Eagles to 6-2 in the league race.

Jordyn Lowe hit 11 kills and five blocks for the Eagles, and Rachel Gfeller had 12 kills and three blocks. Other stats had Aja Schmick, 13 digs; Abby Glorfield, 7 digs, 6 aces; Gracie Dickerson, 7 digs, 3 blocks; and Sierra McCanna, 19 assists.

The Eagles in he Thursday round stopped the LWK Tigercats in four games 25-14 25-14 22-225, and 25.17.

Colton bounced back in the Tuesday round to defeat Oakesdale in a five-game battle. The two teams posted 2-2 in the first four games, and Colton pulled out a win in with a 15-7 in the last game. Line score was 16-25 25-15 20-25 25-22 and 15-7.

Logan Reed Jacey Johnson had 15 kills for the `hawks and Zoe Moser had 20 for Colton. Savannah Chadwick booked 15 assists for the Wildcats.

Oakesdale in the Thursday round defeated Garfield/Palouse in a five-game battle with Johnson hitting 20 kills and Madison Shrope putting up 40 assists. Cassidy Clarkson had six blocks for the Vikings.

Garfield Palouse Thursday posted athree-game win over the Tigercats at LaCrosse witn Clarkson hitting nine kills and Katie Holbrook putting up six assists.

Line score for that win was 25-23 25-18 25-23.

Gail Harder hit six kills for the T-cats, and hit three aces. Jazzmyn Gordon had nine digs.

Reardans tops

Timberwolves

Reardan defeated the LR Timberwolves in three games Tuesday at Reardan 25-16 25-17 25-21. The Timberwolves, still winless in their first NE campaign, Saturday will host Kettle Falls in the next round.

Olivia Pakootas had five blocks for the Tigercats at Reardan and Kim Groom had four digs.
