Fire ban lifted

Whitman County Parks Friday lifted a ban on open fires at its three parks. Rainfall and lower temperatures have reduced the fire hazard.

The parks department announced the ban July 18. Wawawai County park was under a fire ban posted by Fire District 14 June 10.

Park visitors are urged to attend fires started at camp sites and be careful with any use of matches, lighters and cigarettes while using trails in the parks.
