Dahmen exhibit features three artists

Three artists who have rediscovered the fun of painting will exhibit pastel and water colors at the Dahmen Barn in November: They are Linda Shewey and Sharley Schenk of Clarkston and Franceen Hermanson from Pullman.

They all met while taking a pastel class taught by Judy Fairley. The women travel the area together to photograph material for their art.

The exhibit will run Nov. 6 through 30 and the reception is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 9 from 1 to 3 p.m.

CLUBS & YOUTH GROUPS

Rosalia Garden Club

Annual guest day for Rosalia Garden Club Nov 5 will feature Bruce and Diane Moriarty from the Spokane area who will do a presentation on “Straw Bale Gardening.” After reading Joel Karsten’s book on the subject, they applied his techniques and had wonderful success with their garden which they will share with members and guests. This type of gardening is very popular and the WSU Extension Service has a fact sheet #FS109E available on the subject.

Special guests will be husbands and any other interested residents.

The meeting starts at 1p.m. at the Rosalia United Methodist Church with hostesses Ann Heck and Sandy Thursby.

Athenaeum

Maxine Lange was hostess for the Oct. 17 meeting . In keeping with the theme for the year, Sharon Baum talked about pheasants and quails. She shared a book account about a young boy who saved a baby quail which practically became a member of his family.

Next meeting will be Nov. 7 with Jane Aune hostess. Members of the CHS cast of South Pacific will perform songs from the musical. It will be the only meeting in November.

Lee Granddaughter

A daughter, Allison Taylor Yang, was born Oct. 13 at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue to Robyn and Mike Yang of Bellevue. Weighing eight pounds, four ounces at birth, she is their first child. Grandparents are Sid and Darlene Lee of Colfax and Dave and Vicki Yang of Vancouver, Wash.

Brown, Rylie Jo, born October 21 at five pounds, 13 ounces, to Matt and Lindsey Brown, Oakesdale. Paternal grandparents are Mike and Laurie Brown, Oakesdale. Maternal grandparents are Bob and Laura Johnson, Colfax. Baby joins brother Brody, 5, and sister Ellery, 3.

Martinez, Jaxson Joseph, born October 25 at eight pounds to Crystal Astey and Matt Martinez, Moscow. Paternal grandparents are Rachel and Joseph Martinez, Yakima. Maternal grandparents are Sherry and Royce Miller, Yakima. Baby joins brothers Dylan, 12, and Gavyn, 6.

AT WHITMAN HOSPITAL & MEDICAL CENTER

Faye, Noraya, born October 25 at eight pounds, one ounce, to Amanda and Brian Himes. Baby joins siblings Naomi, Jamison, Julian and Degan.
